PUBLIC SECTOR
Our Enable Power Systems find themselves increasingly in demand for projects in the public sector, where they enjoy a growing reputation for completing complex works to the highest standards. We are frequently involved in the delivery of power systems solutions for local authorities and other local and national public bodies through our Crown Commercial Services (CCS) contracts. For example, we provided new power supplies for an NHS Trust in Milton Keynes under the CCS framework.
Two further examples, both involving the construction of new substations, illustrate the varied challenges our teams face. One, for Swindon Borough Council, involved building a substation within a working bus station. The other was part of the renovation programme for Coventry Station carried out for joint clients Coventry City Council and Network Rail, a project in which we were able to deploy our extensive cross-sector knowledge of working in rail. This saw us not only accommodating the needs of a long list of other organisations active within the immediate area, but also installing a new earth farm at depths of up to 30m on a site where 16 unexploded World War II bombs were known to be present.
Life for Enable Power Systems teams is rarely dull!
