BCM Construction Renovate 9 Stations on The Hither Green Blockade for Network Rail

BCM Construction works were completed to present passenger facing benefits following the blockades at 9 different stations. The works completed included repairs, cleaning and decorating works to station platforms and canopies at Bromley North, Chislehurst, Elmstead Wood, Grove Park,Hither Green, Lee, Mottingham, New Eltham and Sundridge Park.

Year 2 Capex Tactile Installation

The objective was to self deliver 100 platforms across 43 Stations in the Sussex, Kent and London area, installing in excess of 16,500m of tactile. With the wide assortment of stations, historic features, and diverse requirements, four different tactile methods were to be used for the renovation works.

Swindon Borough Council Substation Construction

This project was part of the well-known Kimmerfields Development in Swindon Town Centre in which SSE, the local Utility Provider, required a new substation to enable a new power supply.

Ipswich Area Level Crossing – Woodbridge

BCM Construction has completed the Civils Construction works on three level crossings in Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Amey Rail was contracted by Network Rail to upgrade equipment at the level crossings to make them safer for the public and BCM Construction was responsible to deliver the Civils Construction scope of works on behalf of Amey Rail.

Kettering Station Platform Extensions

BCM Construction was contracted by Amey Rail to extend the 4 platform lengths at Kettering station to serve new 240m trains following the December 2019 timetable change on the fast and slow lines. This will increase capacity on the Midland Mainline for Network Rail.

Lyminster Bypass Scheme

BCM are part of the Breheny led delivery team building the Fitzalan Bypass link road and Southern Lyminster bypass. BCM are responsible for the construction of the new overbridges at Toddington Lane and the Brighton to Littlehampton railway line.

Western Power Distribution Under-Track Crossing Installations at Weston Super Mare

The objective was to execute a UTX for WPD at two separate substations by constructing a thrust and drive pit for auger boring to commence. This would all be completed whilst keeping the track live.

Liverpool Street Station Platform Extension GRIP 5-8 Design & Build

The key project deliverable is to complete the platform extensions and associated works by 31st May 2021 to ensure our client can fully introduce and operate their new rolling stock.

Feltham Re-signalling Programme – Phase 1 & 2 Civils

BCM Construction were awarded the Principal Contractors role for the Design and Construction of the full civil engineering scope of works for the Feltham Resignalling Project Phase 2 and residual Phase 1. This multi-disciplinary project covers over 60 miles in total.

Hinkley Point C

BCM have been contracted by UKPNS to support them on the civil and electrical elements of the Hinkley Point C site commissioning.

Thameslink Minor Works Framework

BCM Construction won the Thameslink Minor Civils Framework Contract to design and execute lineside engineering activities to facilitate the installation of other contractors’ equipment.

TRP E&P Resilience Programme

BCM Construction were hired by Network Rail to survey electrical assets along with installing ramp end shrouding and replacing lugs on jumper cables. These works took place between London Victoria Station to Balham Station, North Dulwich to Eastfeild and Earlswood to Preston Park.

Tunbridge Wells Power Supply Enhancement

The objective of the overall project is to improve system resilience and prevent further equipment failures between Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells which have been caused by the introduction of 12-car electric train formations to Tunbridge Wells.

Great Western Route Modernisation: Design & Installation

This project was part of the well-known Great Western Electrification Programme. BCM were contracted by Network Rail to Design and Install a HV Independent Feeder cable between the new substations at Royal Wootton Bassett ATFS and Thingley Junction ATFS.

Crossrail Platform Extensions

Crossrail is a multi billion pound transport infrastructure scheme, delivering a new 118-kilometre (73-mile) railway line to London and the Home Counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Essex. In 2015, BCM were awarded a prestigious contract to complete the civil engineering

Sussex PSU – ETE WORKS – Victoria to Balham

The primary objective of this scheme is to ensure that there is sufficient DC traction power across Network Rail’s (NR) Sussex Route to meet the demands of the new December 2018 timetable, which will include a newer fleet and more frequent trains, all in accordance with the requirements of the Department of Transport’s (DTT) strategic plan.

In 2016, BCM were awarded a contract by Network Rail to complete the Electrical Track Equipment (ETE) works from Victoria to Balham. Working as their Principal Rail Contractor, BCM have faced a challenging access regime within these inner London sites, working on some of the busiest and most congested lines in the UK.

CP5 Electrification and Plant (E&P) Framework

In 2014, BCM fought off stiff competition to secure a five-year framework on behalf of Network Rail Infrastructure Projects (NR), to deliver electrification and plant upgrades and renewals in the Southern region.

Great Western Electrification Substations

In September 2015, Rail Civil Engineering Contractor – BCM – were awarded a significant substation civils project on Network Rail’s Great Western Electrification infrastructure project on the lines between Reading and Bristol stations.

These works form part of the wider Great Western Route Modernisation, which involves complex infrastructure works, new trains and service changes. These aim to improve services along the rail route, which connects London with West and South West England and South Wales.

Clapham Junction – TFL London Overground

BCM delivered an extension and phased regeneration of Platforms 1 and 2 including a new overbridge, canopy and commercial unit installation at Clapham Junction. The works were adjacent to the operational railway and the platforms were open to the public during the works. With Clapham being the busiest train movement station in the UK, BCM developed an innovative materials distribution solution at the adjacent viaduct and conducted a meticulous programme of material and plant deliveries, whilst co-ordinating with all relevant project stakeholders.

Signalling Renewals – Great Western Route

Following previous successful contracts with Alstom, BCM delivered the most compelling offer for the civil engineering scope of the railway signalling renewal scheme for the Great Western Electrification project.

The contract was let to BCM on a design and install basis, for the civil engineering elements of the project, covering a geographical work scope of nearly 300 miles of track between Paddington and Bristol stations, including some branch lines.

Station Track Litter Clearance

BCM’s rail environmental services division has devoted teams in place, many with over 20 years’ experience, having dedicated their careers to delivering a long-term contract on the rail infrastructure.

The specialist division prides itself on its unique methodology developed over two decades of committed service to the rail environmental services sector and has established techniques and equipment that enable them to deal with the removal of graffiti and clearing of litter promptly, primarily working on this long term contract with Network Rail as a Principal Contractor.
