Introducing our new Regional Manager for Wales & Western.

As we continue to acquire more work in Wales, we needed an experienced industry-specific manager to oversee the region.
Andrew Wedlake is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over thirty years’ experience in many facets of the Civil Engineering and Building Industry, spanning the highway, rail, water, environmental, infrastructure, housing and design sectors. He has had exposure to national and international construction markets. Andrew has predominantly worked in Wales and the South West for major contractors, SMEs, and consultants.
Throughout his career, Andrew has developed an extensive portfolio of skills as an engineer and estimator throughout the project life cycle, from master – planning and initial feasibility through to procurement, contract and post contract. These roles have required input on managing design teams, risk meetings, VE meetings and progress meetings, whilst utilising his experience to explore and identify innovation, efficiency, and whole life costings. His main expertise now lie in the management of the Pre-Contract and Contract Stage in numerous types of construction.
Operations Director, Dan Wiscombe had this to say on Andrew joining the company. “I am delighted that Andrew has joined Enable Infrastructure (formerly known as BCM Construction) his role is to lead the business in the Wales and Western region. He will be responsible for establishing a regional office to deliver current live projects as well as developing new opportunities and growing the business within that region. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and is a key addition to the region and business”
When speaking with Andrew himself, he has this to say about joining Enable Infrastructure. “I am excited to join Enable Infrastructure as I am aware of their reputation in the market with their current clients and peers and look forward to introducing them to new and varied clients in Wales and the west.
I expect the role to be a challenging one as I am endeavoring to introduce a new player in a very competitive market. I am, however, confident I can make this a success as I have experience in this previously and am enthused that I have the support and backing of a well-established and professional management board and company.”
Andrew is going to be an integral part of acquiring future projects, with aspirations to go for Crown Commercial Services, Network Rail, Transport for Wales and Welsh Water Framework projects.
We further discussed life outside work with Andrew voicing; “I have been married to Cathy for 33 years and have four children. I live in a semi-rural village to the west of Swansea in a house that I built myself. I am Chairman of my local rugby club, Waunarlwydd RFC, and am a qualified rugby coach. I have had the pleasure in coaching and developing many youngsters, including two current British Lions, Dan Biggar and Liam Williams.
I am a keen travel enthusiast and use the travel to meet people, improve my photographic skills and undertake as much scuba diving as possible. I enjoy walking my dog around many of the beaches and parks around Swansea and The Gower.’’
With a wide breadth of experience, vast technical knowledge, a large network of contacts, combined with standout relationship and communication skills, we are excited to see what Andrew will bring to Enable Infrastructure.
