Energy Connections
Enable Energy Connections is not just a contractor; we are your strategic partner for the energy transition. Unlike traditional providers who rely on fragmented supply chains, we deliver a true turnkey solution.
By combining our in-house civil engineering strength with our status as a NERS-accredited Independent Connections Provider (ICP), we eliminate the interface risks that typically delay energy projects. From the first spade in the ground to the final energisation, we control the critical path to ensure your asset connects to the grid faster, safer, and more cost-effectively.
Our Credentials
As a testament to our commitment to quality and safety, Enable Energy Connections (as part of Enable Infrastructure) holds NERS accreditation as an Independent Connections Provider (ICP) from LV -132KV and NICEIC certification as an Approved Contractor specialising in complex LV & HV installations. Our extensive experience with Engineering Procurement Contract (EPC) delivery models ensures comprehensive project management from initial design through to final commissioning, providing clients with single-point accountability and streamlined execution. Our industry-leading standards ensure that every project we undertake is executed with precision, safety, and integrity.

ICP
Scope
As a NERS-accredited Independent Connections Provider (ICP), Enable Energy Connections is authorised to undertake “contestable works” on the electricity network. This allows us to avoid standard DNO delays. Our services cover the full connection lifecycle: grid connection design and planning, including DNO liaison; HV/LV cable installation, covering up to 33kV jointing; and the design and build of GRP and brick-built substations. We also manage the complex legalities of asset adoption and final energisation.
Approach
We deliver an integrated approach that differentiates us from standard electrical contractors. As Enable Infrastructure is a Tier 1 civil engineer, we self-deliver the entire scope, including trenching, ducting, access roads, and enabling works, alongside the electrical installation. We use precise planning to synchronise civil and electrical programmes. This ensures a smooth handover and eliminates the interface risks and “blame culture” often found in fragmented supply chains.
Mission
Our goal is to simplify grid access. We aim to remove the regulatory and physical barriers that delay energy projects, giving developers a faster, more transparent route to energisation. Our mission is to support the UK’s energy transition by delivering the critical network infrastructure required for Net Zero without the wait associated with statutory providers.
Expertise
Our team holds full NERS accreditation, proving our ability to work on the distribution network. We combine this with Tier 1 civil engineering capabilities and ISO 44001 collaborative working standards. Our engineers bring experience from highly regulated sectors like rail and highways, ensuring every connection is built to the highest standards of safety and compliance.
Benefits
We provide commercial confidence. Our integrated model offers speed, working to your programme rather than the DNO’s. This accelerates the deployment of renewable energy and housing infrastructure. We offer one point of contact for both the trench and the cable, ensuring zero interface delays.
Projects
Our portfolio proves we can deliver complex connections in challenging environments. This includes the John Gilbert Way project in Manchester. Here, we acted as the ICP to deliver a 2MVA high-voltage connection and public street works to power a major EV hub. We have successfully managed DNO adoption processes and delivered critical power infrastructure for logistics hubs and industrial sites across the UK.
