MTR Rail for London Framework

The contract to date has included various projects summarised as follows:

Uxbridge Station & Greenwich Power Station – Working on behalf of London Underground we designed and installed a catch net arrangement to be installed to concrete structures. The arrangements were designed to mitigate spalling concrete fouling public areas which was causing a risk to people and infrastructure assets. Each location was designed to be accessible and maintained to remove debris periodically and still allow structural assessments.

Dollis Hill Embankment – Adjacent to the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines in Northwest London we are installing a king post retaining wall to replace a life expired masonry structure to improve London Undergrounds asset.

Blackwall Secondary Staircase Access (SSA) – Due to access enhancements at Blackwall Docklands Light Railway (DLR) Station enhancement to public access is being designed and built to install an additional staircase access to each platform area.

Various challenges have been faced during the planning and implementation of these works. These include:

  • Third party access negotiations and mitigation arrangements
  •  Complex design development and approvals
  •  Site limitations and constraints
  •  Working within live operational areas

To mitigate the key challenges, Enable established close collaborative relationships with the MTR team to create an offering to each of the end users to meet their expectations and to safely complete the required installations to resolve enhance assets accordingly.

Detailed design reviews and careful engineering and constructability assessments ensured that designs were developed to ensure once approved for construction site operational issues were limited.

Careful consideration at the planning stages allowed works to be planned and implemented to minimise impacts to both the end users and public interfaces. Works were completed during days, nights and weekends to suit the stakeholder requirements and minimise disruption.

Key deliverables at each scheme included (but not limited to):
