Enable in Action!14th July 2020
As a consortium of SMEs, Enable is absolutely delighted to be part of the UK’s first ‘Capital to Capital to Capital’ journey – GWR IET Cardiff to London, circle line London Paddington to Kings Cross, then LNER IET London to Edinburgh by electric train.
Supporting the Great Western Electrification Programme (GWEP) for the past five years, the Enable consortium was built upon the desire to streamline the supply chain, reinforce quality control and deliver projects with trusted partners as a ‘one-stop-shop’.
Working in collaboration with Network Rail, UK Power Networks and ABB, Enable delivered the GRIP 5 to 8 Western and Welsh Feeders, civils sub stations and auto transformer feed (ATF) routes safely, on time and within budget. This included delivering the longest Network Rail feeder cable (22.5Km) in the UK.
EQUATE carried out the GRIP 5 design, BCM led the construction, Crewit provided the fluctuating resource demands and CHS supplied the plant and materials. The Enable model has been fully utilised to support GWEP, demonstrating how it works and has providing significant safety and efficiency benefits to the client.
“We are really proud to have been part of GWEP, a real ground-breaking programme. It was a great opportunity to demonstrate the Enable model and capability in its entirety and we are pleased to have been able to provide significant cost saving benefits to our clients.” Stuart Jackson – Commercial Director, BCM Construction
